Akinori Matsumoto’s Sound Scenes in Ogijima
The Setouchi Triennale 2013 is less than three months away. Winter has arrived and most Art Setouchi installations are closed. Now is a good time for a little retrospective about the Setouchi International Art Festival 2010, especially a few artworks that I hadn’t talked about yet.
For example, Akinori Matsumoto‘s Sounds Scenes in Ogijima.
Two different but still similar installations were set up under that name in two abandoned buildings of Ogichō (an old barn and a house).
I won’t try to describe them, a few pictures will do that better. And while they don’t exist anymore, they made me want to see more of Akinori Matsumoto‘s works (I haven’t yet) and I hope it will do the same to you:
Of course, when you’re dealing with an artwork named “Sound Scenes” limiting its presentation to pictures would be a little counter-productive. So here are a few videos too :
And as my video making skills are not that great, here are a couple more I found and that are of much better quality:
As previously mentioned, I hope this will make you want to see more of Akinori Matsumoto‘s works as well as give you an idea of the things you can expect in the upcoming Setouchi Triennale (although Mr. Matsumoto won’t take part in it this year).
