Takeshi Kawashima Art in Takamatsu Miraie

Until recently, I never realized how much public art in Takamatsu was the brainchild of Takeshi Kawashima.

If you’re not familiar with him, here are all the posts I wrote about him before. I especially invite you to read this post where I talk about his biography a little bit:

A quick visit of Takeshi Kawashima Art Factory

So, as I said at the beginning of the post, I never realized until quite recently that his art is everywhere in Takamatsu if you pay attention. If you don’t live in the city, a place where you can easily find some is on the floor of Marugamemachi Dome and the north end of Marugamemachi Shotengai. The rest is a bit more difficult to find as it’s not in locations familiar to tourists and visitors.

Today, I want to show you his art that can be found in Takamatsu Miraie.

Miraie (pronounced “mi-ra-i-e”) is a cultural center, mostly aimed at kids, with a library, a small science museum, a planetarium, and more. Its entrance hall looks like this:

If you want to see it with your own eyes, Miraie is located in Matsushimacho, about two kilometers east of city hall (on the same street.)

I’ll show you more sooner or later.

Stay tuned…
