Good morning everyone. It’s freezing but sunny here today.
I wanted to tell you a few words about the newsletter, especially a big thank you to all of you who signed up for it already.
During the weekend, I imported the lists of people subscribed to this blog (either through Mailchimp or Jetpack) as well as people subscribed to my old newsletter (Substack).
If this is you, I warmly invite you to check Japan Art Islands, to log in with the same email address you used to subscribe here, and to update your profile, or unsubscribe if you’re not interested.
I have posted my first message there a couple of days, you can read it through this link (Ghost is both a newsletter and a blog.) However I’m having trouble sending emails properly at the moment.
So there is a good chance that you haven’t received an email for it, or on the contrary, you may have received it several times. In any case, I want to apologize. I’m still learning how to use Ghost and there seems to be a problem with the email settings (I’m in contact with support). Please bear with me.
Also, just in case, now and in the future, make sure to check your spam folders. New newsletters sometimes end up there by accident. If you ever find something in your spam folder that shouldn’t be there, don’t forget to mark it as “not spam.”
Alright enough boring “technical” talk. Here is a preview for a future post on Japan Art Islands.
This is Tree of Ibuki by Takashi Kuribayashi. It’s a permanent installation on Ibukijima, and a pretty amazing work of art overall. It’s been around since 2019 and, as far as I know, it’ll still be there this year. Ibukijima only joins the Setouchi Triennale during the Autumn session, but Tree of Ibuki is viewable year-round.
One final word to say a big thank you to all the people who help me finance the website this month. I’m humbled by your generosity. I try to thank everyone individually, but in case I forgot someone, I want to reiterate it here. So once again, thank you.
