Art Setouchi – May 2011

 

Last Month, I published the schedule for Art Setouchi during April. If you don’t mind, I will try to publish it every month as long as I have them.

Of course the obvious goal here is to make you want to go visit the islands if you’re in the area. And if you’re not and are in Japan, why not make a detour to the area, after all, Golden Week just started, and because of it, most works will be open every day this week!

So here is:

Art Setouchi Schedule for May 2011

Organ on Ogijima

Takamatsu


 

Naoshima


  • Naoshima Bath “I♥湯”
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then open every day except on Mondays, 2pm-9pm (from 10am on week-ends and holidays).
    Admission: ¥500 (¥300 for Naoshima residents, ¥200 if you’re under 15).
  • Lee Ufan Museum
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then open every day except on Mondays, 10am-6pm (last admittance at 5.30pm).
    Admission: ¥1,000.
  • Art House Project (Kadoya, Minamidera, Go’o Shrine, Haisha, Ishibashi, Gokaisho)
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then open every day except on Mondays, 10am-4.30pm.
    Admission: ¥400 each house or ¥1,000 for a pass allowing entrance to all houses.
  • Art House Project (Kinza)
    Open May 1st, from May 3rd to May 8th and then Fridays to Sundays, 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm.
    A reservation is required.
    Admission : ¥500.
  • Benesse House Museum
    Open everyday 8am-9pm (last admittance at 8pm).
    Admission : ¥1,000.
  • Chichu Art Museum
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then open every day except on Mondays, 10am-6pm (last admittance at 5pm).
    Admission : ¥2,000.
  • Various permanent works are all around the island, especially near the Benesse House, including Blind Blue Landscape and Yellow Pumpkin.

 

 

Teshima


  • Was du liebst, bring dich auch zum weinen / Il Vento
    Open every day May 1st to May 9th, then every day except on Tuesdays, 10pm-5pm.
    Admission : ¥300 (I’m not sure if the restaurant is still open, if anybody knows, feel free to tell me).
  • 101 Years Old’s Silence/100 Years Old’s Hands
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 10.30am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Tom Na H-iu
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 10.30am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Farther Memory
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 10.30am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Particles in the Air
    Permanent free access.
  • Shima Kitchen
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 10.30am-4.30pm.
  • Your First Colour
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 10.30am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Storm House
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 10.30am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Teshima Art Museum
    Open every day May 1st to May 9th, then every day except on Tuesdays, 10am-5pm (last admittance at 4.30pm).
    Admission : ¥1,500.
  • Les Archives du Coeur
    Open every day May 1st to May 9th, then every day except on Tuesdays, 10am-5pm.
    Admission : ¥500.

 

 

Megijima


  • 20th Century Recall
    Permanent free access.
  • Megi House
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on Week-ends, 10.40am-4pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • The Presence of Absence
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on Week-ends, 10.40am-4pm.
    Admission : ¥300. I’m not sure if the restaurant is still open.
  • Equipoise
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on Week-ends, 10.40am-4pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Sea Gull Parking Lot
    Permanent free access.
  • Momo’s Game or Victory of the Naked Peach
    Open everyday, 8.30am-5pm.
    Admission : ¥500 (it’s actually the admission fee for the Oni Cave where the art is located).

 

 

Ogijima


  • Ogijima’s Soul
    Open everyday, 6.30am-5pm.
  • A Shelter for Drops of Memory
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 11am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Sea Vine
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 11am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Maison de Urushi
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 11am-4.30pm.
    Admission : free.
  • Onba Factory
    Open every day from May 1st to May 8th, then on week-ends, 11am-4.30pm.
    Admission : ¥300.
  • Organ
    Permanent free access.
  • Shima Kokoru Isu
    Permanent free access (I suddenly have a doubt, I thought it was going to be permanent, but it’s not listed in this month’s available artworks).
  • Wallalley
    Permanent free access.

 

 

Shōdoshima


  • House of Shōdoshima
    I have conflicting information about it. The schedule I have says we can still see it (from outside only), but I heard that it had been torn down.
  • Tsugi-Tsugi-Kintsugi
    Open every day from May 1st to May 9th, then every but Wednesdays, 9am-10pm.
    Admission: free.

Inujima


  • Inujima Art House Project
    Open every day May 1st to May 9th, then every day except on Tuesdays, 10am-4.30pm (last admittance at 4pm).
    Admission: ¥500.
  • Inujima Art Project “Seirensho”
    Open every day May 1st to May 9th, then every day except on Tuesdays, 10am-4.30pm (last admittance at 4pm).

  1. I will be coming out in October I would like to open a gallery myself, as my wife and child are living in Takamatsu. I deal in Australian Indigenous Art and Glass.
