When one thinks about Kyōto, one generally thinks about it as the heart of traditional Japan.
However, this is usually the first view most people have of the city, the very contemporary Kyōto Station:
Note that I’m not complaining. And I actually was a fan of Astro Boy as a kid.

Yes, Kyoto is the traditional heart of Japanese culture, but I also love the mix of new/modern with the old. Kyoto station is a great example of the new modern Kyoto and is such a cool building complex.
