For whoever has grown up in France like me (but I assume it’s true for many other countries too), an underground passage in town is very often synonymous to dirt, unholy smells, graffiti and they’re not always that safe.
So you can imagine the contrast compared to this:
If you’re curious as to where you can find it, it is located in the North-West corner of Chūō Kōen, at the intersection of Chūō-dori and Shido-kaido.
Now, I’m not gonna lie. This is the only one underground passage in Takamatsu (to my knowledge) that is that good-looking. However, all the other ones are safe at any hour of the day or the night too.

They are really beautiful and clean in Japan. Back home in Australia they are not as safe and I would have reservations about using one, especially at night.
Same in Europe, you don’t want to go in one at night.
Here I take one about once a week at night, and yes, there is some sort of “gang” hanging out there. What they do is practice dancing, and really appreciate it when I stop for a few seconds to watch them do so.
Yup, in the UK and Ireland subways were dismal and definitely dodgy after dark. Your one is fabulous.
It is definitely the most beautiful I have seen. And it’s safe 24/7.
I go through here at least twice a week. I did stop down there once to snap a couple pictures because I had realized the same thing that you had, that this is the nicest looking (and probably most commonly used) underground passage in Takamatsu.
Does it get busy? I assume that yes, providing its location, but every time I go, there aren’t many people using it (but I never go during rush hour either)
